The club welcomed Erica Oram to judge the entries in the Projected Photographer of the Year competition.
In the projected Photographer of the Year competition the results were as follows.
First: Feeling Blue, by Jill Davies
Second: Craig Vegas, by Nick Wheat
Third: Spider, by Darren Worthy

This month’s ‘Action’ projected competition saw a huge variety of action shots – including sports ranging from boxing to banger car racing and activities ranging from viewing art to fighting fires.
Nick Wheat’s imporessive image of acrobatic flight took first place.
Second place was a close run competition with no less than 3 images all scoring the same amount and taking joint third!
First we have Steve Murphy’s image of a nonchalant wakeboarder.
The motorcross rider was taken by Marie Rollitt.
One of Tony Godwin’s pin-sharp motor bike racing was the third and final image to come second.
Join us on 6th October to hear award winning natural history photography Danny Green talk about his exploration of Northern Europe which lead to his book, The Long Journey North.
Danny’s talk will take place at 8pm, at the Peel Centre, High Street, Dronfield.
From the Mountain Tops of Scotland to the Boreal forests of Finland, the Arctic Tundra of Iceland to the Polar Ice caps of Svalbard Danny’s AV show will take you on a Journey through some of the remotest parts that northern Europe has to offer. For the past seven years he has travelled to many corners of northern Europe covering the many species that seek out a living in these inhospitable lands.
Danny’s The Long Journey North is a visual exploration of the Arctic and Subarctic regions of Northern Europe. It’s a collection of images showing some of the most beautiful and iconic species that can be found in this varied and pristine wilderness.
In the introduction to his book Danny explains: “My deep passion and fascination for the north had been sown many years ago. As a young boy, my grandad influenced and nurtured my love of the natural world. As an eight-year-old, I clearly remember watching thousands of wading birds swirling around an estuary as the tide came in. I was mesmerised by this spectacle and asked question after question. He told me that this flock of birds were Knot. He explained where they had come from and that they only visit us for the winter months. When we got home, we looked at the map and I was mesmerised by the huge distances that they travelled. I wanted to learn more, not just about these birds but the species that lived in this Arctic environment. The North has gripped me ever since.”

As always, this months monochrome print competition saw fewer entries than the colour print compeition held on the same day. However, as always, there were lots of extremely strong images entered.
First place went to Don Jacklin’s moody image of a solitary tree a Sentinel Peak.
Second place went to Derek Holme’s photograph of Lake Bled.
Tony Godwin took third place, with a lake mirror image photograph. This caused issues on the night with making sure it was displayed the correct way up!
The club calendar got back into action with the first competition after the August break.
It was another good month for Steve Murphy, who’s currently in first place in the annual competition. Steve’s image of Ullswater took first place.
Marie Rollitt, currently second in the annual competition, took second in this compeition with an image of a sweeping Peak District landscape.
Two images came in joint third place – Nick Wheat’s dramatic photo of farmers’ fields and Steve Murphy’s second colour image, of St Mary’s Lighthouse.
This month saw the open AGW trophy competition. Although it ws an open competition the results showed a preference for images of animals – in all their guises!
The winner was Marie Rollitt, with a beautiful squirrel photograph.
Steve Murphy took second place with his image of a fox in his back garden.
Third place was taken by Nick Wheat’s self portrait.
Pam Fisher’s wonderful image of a bison came in first place this month.
The June flora and fauna colour print competition was a good month for Marie Rollitt also had a good month with her 2 monochrome images coming joint second with one another, and one of her colour images placing second.

This month saw a wide range of images of people entered into the club’s projected image competition. Ranging from moody character shots to surreal Photoshop montages.
The winner was Steve Murphy, with his amazingly sharp image of a canoist in battle with the river.
Pam Fisher took second place with her image of a professional photographer. Imagine trying candid street photography with that gear!
Third place was taken by Marie Rollitt’s photo of a runner who thought she’d managed to get all the way round a mud run without getting too dirty – until a bucket of muddy water was thrown over her at the finish!
Our second print competition of the year saw a wide variety of styles and subjects falling under the theme of ‘street life’.
First place in the monochrome category went to new member, Don Jacklin’s evocative image of a man who only sees one way out of his predicament.
Tony Godwin’s photograph of a world-weary artists came second.
Third place went to Dave McLeavy’s image of an Italian artist and statue.
