June ‘Images of People’ colour print competition

April saw the annual Images of People competition.

In the colour print competition, 1st place was taken by Darren Worthy’s image of his daughter in  the bluebells at Robin Hood’s Stride.

Paul Beckett came second with his evocative image of a train passenger looking out the window.

There was a tie for third place between Steve Memmott’s image of Tillie and Chris Parker’s explosive self-portrait.

May Macro / Close Up projected competition

This month saw a huge variety of photos entered into the macro / close up competition – from extreme macro shots of insects to close ups showing the subject in its environment.

First place went to Nick Wheat’s shot from Horsleygate Hall.

Tony Godwin’s focus-stacked pocket watch took second place.

Third place went to Steve Murphy’s painterly flower still life.

April ‘triptych’ monochrome print competition

April saw the Triptych theme for the competition – a collection of three images linked in some way.

First place went to Jill Davies’ three images of a white cat – we have no idea how she got the cat to stay still for so long!

Second place went to Darren Worthy’s quirky self portrait series.

Derek Holmes took third place with his three images capturing time at a train station.

April saw the Triptych theme for the competition – a collection of three images linked in some way.

In the colour print competition, 1st place was taken by Pam Fisher’s wonderful shots of sunlight streaming through a misty forest.

Jill Davies came second with her images showing off the shape and texture of a calla lily.

Third place went to Ian Smith’s photographs of war graves  and poppies.

February ‘open’ monochrome print competition

The club’s competition got off to a great start with a huge number of entries to the first competition.

First place went to Don Jacklin’s image of sunlight shining through the mist in Yellowstone.

Second place went to Ian Smith’s sombre image of the railway’s end at Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Darren Worthy’s photograph of the spiral statue in the Shepherd Homes building development behind Chesterfield train station took third place.

February ‘open’ colour print competition

The club’s competition got off to a great start with a huge number of entries to the first competition.

In the colour print competition, 1st place was taken by Jill Davies’ photograph of a mountain reflected in a lake.

Pam Fisher’s evocative image of a cowboy riding out of a book of Ansel Adams photography came second.

Third place went to Marie Rollitt’s sea eagle image.

December water projected competition

The 2016 Photograher of the Year competition ended tonight with the final competition of the year- the projected ‘water’ competition.

Marie’s detailed image of a flower reflect in water droplets came first.

Second place went to Dave McLeavy’s unusual photograph of St Mark’s Square in Venice.

Congratulations to new member, Dave Jones whose long exposure image of a river took third place in his first ever competition.

 

Print Photographer of the Year Competition 2016

The club welcomed Bob Rowe to judge the entries in the Print Photographer of the Year competition for 2016.

The results were as follows.

First: Totally Addicted to Bass, by Nick Wheat

Second: Sharp Eyed Heron, by Dave McLeavy

Third: Wizard Trabnsport, by Don Jacklin
